It’s country cooking month! To celebrate, one of our employees shared a recipe that is popular whenever she makes it. Check out this recipe, and try to make it! Or, make one of your favorite recipes instead for this month-long celebration of cooking.

Apple Crisp


  • 5 lb bag of baking apples (McIntosh apples work well)
  • 6 Tbsp of white sugar
  • Cinnamon – shake on top of apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter – softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups flour


1. Grease rectangle baking dish

2. Peel apples and cut into thin slices

3. Add sugar and cinnamon to apples and mix well

4. In a separate bowl, mix butter, flour, and brown sugar (mix with hands, but leave crumbly)

5. Pour mixture over apples, leave crumbly; do not push down

6. Bake at 350 degrees F for an hour or until apples are soft
